Even made several different files for Maxtrac, Radius and GM300's and they never did anything with them. I suggested that about a year and a half ago to them. I got a bit wrapped up, and only after getting it realized that it might not be what I wanted. Are you saying that with some mods, software or otherwise, it could work on the 2m band? I admit, I such at soldering, but if it is just a matter of removing a component, I might be game. Some time ago I suggested to the CHIRP folks that they should add some of the older LMR radios which are now often being used in the amateur service post-narrowbanding.Īlmost all of my amateur FM operation is using LMR gear, mostly Icom and Vertex although I have a couple of Kenwoods. The old Vertex software has to have a pure DOS environment though. ![]() I've had good luck running Kenwood and Icom old DOS software in dos boxes in 2000/XP. It's not much different from the Baofengs or other asian market LMR radios that people buy all the time now which generally are programmed via computer. ![]() The service manual didn't give me much information as most of the alignment appears to be done in software. I haven't worked on that particular model but have retuned several LMR radios to amateur band use. ![]() It's also possible you might need to retune the VCO/PLL a little which would likely be pretty trivial (turn an adjustment slug).
